The City of Villach

The city of Villach is located in Drau is not far from the borders with Italy and Slovenia. With almost 62,000 inhabitants it is the seventh largest city in Austria and has always been an important traffic junction for the south of Austria. The municipal area comprises 58 villages. Villach was the first municipality in Carinthia which has implemented an integration action plan. This integration program has been developed under broad civil society participation. The department for integration of the city of Villach manages different integration actions fostering the integration process of migrants and is well connected with all relevant integration actors in Carinthia.

Mag. Kristijan Miksche

Kristijan Miksche works as integration officer for the City of Villach. Currently he is responsible for the development of the City’s integration policies, the support of migrant organisations and the coordination of efforts of the civil society.

Gerda Sandriesser

Gerda Sandriesser works as a municipal councillor in the municipal council of the town of Villach.

Currently she is responsible for the department of social affairs, migration and integration, culture, women, youth, youth welfare and museum.
